The Griffin wrestlers closed out their 2013-14 regular season with a 20-16 loss at home to West Liberty in the McKenna Center. SHU took four of the first five matches but dropped four of the last five matches in the contest. Seton Hill falls to 4-14 overall.
After forfeiting the first match at 125 pounds,
Andrew Schutz got the Griffins on the scoreboard with a 4-3 decision at 133 pounds.
AJ Fisher put the Griffins ahead 7-6 in the match with a 13-3 major decision victory at 141 pounds.
Kevin Laubach Jr continued the Griffin run with a 10-4 decision victory at 149 pounds. Laubach gave the Griffins a 10-6 lead in the match.
Zach Voytek then ran the Griffin winning streak to four matches with a 5-2 decision victory at 157 pounds. SHU led 13-6 after the Voytek victory. West Liberty then took the next three matches to take a 17-13 lead in the match.
Morris Lawson cut the West Liberty lead to 17-16 with a 6-3 decision victory at 197 pounds. The Hilltoppers closed out the match with a 9-5 victory in the 285 pound match.
The Griffins will next take part in the Super Regional I Chanpionships at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on March 1st and 2nd. The top three wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships on March 15-16 in Cleveland, OH.
