Alviani Reaches 1,500 Career Points in 70-56 Victory

Seton Hill continued PSAC crossover play on Saturday afternoon when they traveled to Mansfield University.  The Griffins led from the opening tip and cruised to a 70-56 victory.  SHU improves to 8-5 on the season. 
 
Seton Hill came out of the game fast, taking a quick 9-4 lead after a put back basket from Mallory Sanner at the 17:40 mark.  Paige Alviani scored 5 of the first 9 points.  Another three pointer from Alviani pushed the lead to 14-4 at the first media timeout.  The Griffins continued to extend their lead and led 23-10 after a Tiara Stossel three pointer with 12:50 left in the first half.   Sanner's three point play gave the Griffins a 33-20 lead with just under seven minutes to play in the half.  SHU extended their run with six more points to take their largest lead of the half at 39-20 with 5:15 to play on a basket from Stossel.  The Griffins took a 45-29 lead into the halftime break.  Paige Alviani led the Griffins with 12 points.  Tiara Stossel added 9 points.  Kelly Brennan tossed in 7 and Mallory Sanner added 5. 
 
Paige Alviani scored her 1,500th career point with a layin at the 16:50 mark of the second half.  That bucket gave the Griffins a 50-31 lead.  Mansfield used a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 52-38 at the under 12 media timeout.  Back to back three pointers from Alviani and Kelly Brennan pushed the lead to 22 points at 61-39 with just over nine minutes left in the half.  Mansfield answered with six in a row to cut the lead to 61-45 at the under eight media timeout.  SHU was able to extend the lead to 18 (65-47) at the under four minute media timeout.     
 
Paige Alviani led the Griffins with 17 points.  Kelly Brennan and Tiara Stossel both added 13.  Katie Gattuso added 7 points and 10 rebounds.  Meghan Mastroianni finished with 6 points, 4 assists and 2 steals.  Mallory Sanner had a great all around game with 7 rebounds, 5 points, 3 steals, an assist and a block. 
 
Seton Hill will close out PSAC crossover action on Wednesday when they host Lock Haven.
