Courtney Tamasitis Named Seton Hill Women's Lacrosse Coach

Seton Hill University President JoAnne Boyle has announced the hiring of Courtney Tamasitis as the school's Head Women's Lacrosse Coach.  Tamasitis replaces Kristie Quigley who was killed in a tragic bus accident on March 16th.  Tamasitis is no stranger to the lacrosse program as she spent four season as head coach for the program from 2008-2011.

Tamasitis returns to Seton Hill after spending two seasons at Marquette University as an assistant coach.  She was named the first assistant coach in the history of the Marquette program.

“I could not be happier to be back at Seton Hill and be back with the team that I am so proud to have coached before and now coach again,” stated Tamasitis.  “With the loss of Kristie (a good friend and teammate of mine), I feel it is my responsibility to continue to instill the team qualities she believed in.  I want to continue to build the legacy she has left behind and continue to move the program in a successful and positive direction.  I will honor Kristie everyday with my coaching and will always remember all she has done for this program.”

During her time with the Griffins, she had four student-athletes named All-East Coast Conference and had five ECC Players of the Week.  Tamasitis guided Seton Hill to the program's best record at that time of 9-7, including a 4-3 mark in conference play, during the 2010 season.

The Boyertown, Pa., native competed collegiately at Duquesne University and earned All-Atlantic 10 Conference Second Team honors during her senior season and honorable mention as a junior.

Tamasitis graduated in December 2007 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and ended her career with the Dukes in the top-10 of eight-different categories, including points and games played and started. She started 66 of 68 games in her career and amassed 118 total points with 93 goals and 25 assists.

The midfielder was academic all-conference as a junior in addition to earning CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 honors. She was also named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Honor Roll as a senior, while also earning mention on the Duquesne Director of Athletics' and A-10 Commissioner's Honor Rolls. Following her senior season at Duquesne, Tamasitis was an assistant coach for one season with the Dukes until she left for Seton Hill in 2008.

Tamasitis attended Boyertown Area High School where she was named first team all-conference and second team all-area in lacrosse.
