On Saturday afternoon the Griffins traveled to Glenville State College to match up against the Pioneers in a conference contest. Seton Hill was defeated 109-79 on the road.
The game got off to a slow start as the game was only tied 3-3 at the 18:14 mark. Over the next four minutes and the Pioneers scored two buckets taking an 8-3 lead over the Griffins at the 14:15 mark.
Mallory Sanner answered back with a bucket for the Griffins making it an 8-5 contest. The Pioneers then went on a 9-0 run extending their lead 17-5 with 13:52 remaining in the game. The Griffins continued to struggle to score and with 4:04 left in the first half the pioneers had huge 41-24 lead over Seton Hill. The Pioneers continued to increase their advantage until the buzzer and sent the Griffins into the locker room trailing 60-29.
In the second half things didn't get much better for the Griffins as they could not cut the Pioneer advantage and at the 10:30 mark Seton Hill was down 83-54. With the remaining time the Griffins could not dig themselves out of the hole and suffered a 109-79 loss.
With the loss the Griffins now stand at 12-10 overall and 9-7 in conference play.
Katie Gattuso who scored 17 points led the Griffins offense. She added 14 rebounds for another double double.
Mallory Sanner had another good all around game with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Paige Alviani added 13 points, while
Meghan Mastroianni and
Kelly Brennan both chipped in 12 a piece. The Griffins will be on the road for their next game at Wheeling Jesuit on Monday at 5:30 PM.
