The Griffins pulled away in the second half for a 83-74 victory over Millersville at home on Wednesday evening in PSAC crossover action. The win gives the Griffins a sweep of the PSAC crossovers doubleheader. With the victory, the Griffins improve to 7-3 on the season.
Millersville held the lead for the entire first half. The Marauders were able to push their lead to as many as nine points twice early in the first half and led 23-14 with just over nine minutes to play in the half. Two baskets from
Noah Davis and one from
Kameron Taylor cut the lead to 23-20 with 7:59 to play. Millersville pushed the lead back to 34-26 with 3:16 to go but the Griffins closed out the half on an 8-0 run to send the game to the half, tied at 34.
Zach Herman tied the score with a three pointer with 49 seconds to play.
The Griffins took their first lead of the contest, 43-41, on a basket from
Max Kenyi with 15:57 to play. Millersville was then able to take back control of the contest and led 55-47 with 11:35 to play. SHU was able to battle back and tie the score at 59 on a three pointer from
Oliver McGlade. The game changed when the Millersville bench received two technicals. Kenyi hit all four free throws after the technicals to give the Griffins a 69-64 lead with 5:11 to play. The Griffins were able to close out the contest hitting 12 of 16 free throws down the stretch.
Malachi Leonard posted a double double of 27 points and 18 rebounds.
Kameron Taylor finished the contest with 16 points. Taylor just missed a double double with 9 rebounds.
Max Kenyi added 13 points and
Noah Davis was the fourth Griffin in double figures with 12 points.
The Griffins will travel to Shippensburg on Saturday.
