Seton Hill hit the road for their second game of the season as they traveled to West Chester University for the Carol Eckman Tournament. The Griffins battled the University of the Sciences on Friday evening. Seton Hill led for 37 of the 40 minutes in the contest and cruised to a 72-56 victory. The Griffins are now 2-0 on the season.
The University of the Sciences jumped out to a quick 4-2 lead before
Mallory Sanner hit a three to give the Griffins a 5-4 lead with 17:10 to play. That would be a lead the Griffins would not give up the rest of the half. The Griffins used a 19-2 run to take a 21-6 lead with 11:30 to play in the half. SHU led 29-15 with 5:50 to play before closing out the half on a 13-2 run to take a 42-17 lead into the halftime break. Sanner and
Paige Alviani each had 10 points at the half.
The first part of the second half was the
Katie Gattuso show as she scored the first nine points for the Griffins. SHU led 51-29 with 14 minutes to play in the half. SHU continued to control play in the second half and was able to empty the bench and secured a 72-56 victory.
Paige Alviani again led the Griffins in scoring with 18 points.
Katie Gattuso posted a double double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Tiara Stossel and
Mallory Sanner also reached double figures with 10 points.
Seton Hill will close out play in the tournament on Saturday when they battle former WVIAC foe Shepherd in West Chester at 5 PM.
