Griffins Lose Third Straight 83-67

Seton Hill traveled to the University of Charleston on Monday night to compete against the Golden Eagles in a conference contest. The Griffins could not close in on the Golden Eagles large lead and suffered an 83-67 road loss.
 
In the first half both teams started out sluggish. After six minutes of play the game was tied 9-9. The Griffins kept the Golden Eagles close, trailing by a point or two, and halfway through only trailed Charleston by three with a score of 20-17. The Golden Eagles then went on a 6-0 run taking a 26-17 advantage over Seton Hill at the 7:24 mark. From that point of the Golden Eagles continued to build their lead over the Griffins slowly. In that time Charleston managed to outscore Seton Hill 19-10 and sent the Griffins to the locker room trailing 45-29.
 
The Golden Eagles opened up the second half with a 7-0 scoring spree extending their lead over the Griffins 52-29 at the 18:53 mark. Seton Hill managed to cut the Charleston lead down by answering back with a 10-0 run making it a 52-39 ball game with 14:38 remaining. The Golden Eagles once again gained scoring momentum going on another run (8-0) putting the game out of reach for the Griffins 60-39 halfway through the second half. The Griffins were not done fighting and over the seven minutes of play outscored Charleston 13-2 making it a 10 point contest 62-52 and putting the Griffins right back in the game with 7:41 remaining. However, the Golden Eagles managed to hold the Griffins off and defeated Seton Hill 83-67.
 
The Griffins had four players in double figures for the night. Paige Alviani led the Griffins scoring 18 points. Katie Gattuso recorded 15 points, Kelly Brennan added 13 points, and Meghan Mastroianni chipped in 11 points. With the road loss the Griffins record now stands at 10-8 overall and 7-5 in conference play. The Griffins host Alderson Broaddus College next on Thursday at 5:30PM.
