On Saturday the Griffins traveled to Alderson Broaddus to face the Battlers in a WVIAC conference contest. After a close first half Seton Hill dominated play in the second half, picking up the road win defeating the Battlers 80-63.
During first half of action it was a game of lead changes. Halfway through at the 10:03 mark Seton Hill led Alderson Broaddus 23-20. Over the next six minutes the Griffins managed to create a 7 point lead with 4:31 remaining in the half and the scoreboard reading 35-28. The Battlers were able to only cut the Griffins lead down to five points as Seton Hill entered halftime-leading 39-34.
The Battlers opened the second half with a 3-pointer to make it a two-point contest. The Griffins retaliated with back-to-back baskets from
Katie Gattuso and
Tiara Stossel to make it a 43-37 game. At the 16:53 mark Alderson Broaddus brought the game back within reach 45-42. Seton Hill then went on a 7-0 run to extend their advantage to 10 points at 52-42 leading to a Battlers timeout. After the timeout things did not look bright for the Battlers as the Griffins continued to gain offensive momentum and with 4:58 remaining in the game the Griffins had a 72-55 advantage. The Battlers could not make up the deficit with the clock winding down and were defeated by Seton Hill with a score of 80-63.
Katie Gattuso who recorded a double double scoring 24 points and bringing down 11 rebounds led the Griffins offense.
Kelly Brennan had a huge game scoring 22 points and
Paige Alviani added 13 points. With the win the Griffins record improves to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in WVIAC conference play. Seton Hill will match up next against West Virginia Wesleyan College on the road on December 15, at 2:00.
