Seton Hill closed out play in the Lake Erie Storm Classic on Saturday afternoon with a pair of contests. The Griffins took on the host Lake Erie in the first contest and then battled Slippery Rock in the third and final match of the classic.
The Griffins rallied from 2-1 down for a 3-2 five set win over the Storm before defeating the Rock 3-0 in a sweep. SHU finished the weekend with a 3-0 record. Senior
Catie Flohr earned All Classic honors.
Lake Erie took the first set over the Griffins by the score of 25-23. The Griffins evened the match with a 25-17 second set win. The Storm took a 2-1 lead with a 25-21 win in the third set. The Griffins forced a fifth set with a 25-17 win in the fourth. SHU then won the fifth set by a 15-5 score.
Flohr led the Griffins with 21 kills.
Maddie Stout added 16.
Courtney Smith and
Avery Lipstraw each added 9.
Mallory Meinen led the offense with 55 assists.
Emma Meurer had 6 blocks to lead the Griffins. Stout and
Kendyl Wagner each had 21 digs to lead the Griffins.
The Griffins defeated the Rock 25-17 in the first set. SHU took a 2-0 lead with a 25-13 second set win. The Griffins closed out the win with a 25-16 third set victory.
Flohr led the Griffins with 25 kills in the three set match. Meurer added 7 kills. Meinen had 37 assists to run the offense. Meurer had 6 blocks. Wagner had 15 digs, Stout added 12.
The Griffins will head to the Davenport Tournament next weekend.
