Seton Hill opened their 2026 season with a home PSAC Crossover with East Stroudsburg on Thursday evening at Offutt Field.
SHU rallied from 17-0 down to cut the lead to 20-17 but the comeback came up short in a 27-20 loss to the Warriors.
The Warriors took a 3-0 lead on a short field goal late in the first quarter. After a fumble on the kickoff, the Warriors needed just three plays to extend their lead to 10-0 with 12 seconds left in the quarter,
Another fumble on the kickoff gave ESU good field position and allowed them to extend their lead to 17-0 with 14:48 left in the first half.
Rayyan Bataineh hit a school record 52 yard field goal as the Griffins cut the lead to 17-3 with 2:17 left in the half. SHU got a fourth quarter stop and took over at their own 34 yard line.
Boden St Marie hit
Zach Schrockman with a 28 yard pass which moved the ball to the ESU 37 yard line. Four plays later, Demitri Whitehead scored from two yards out to trim the lead to 17-10 at the half.
In the third, the Warriors hit a 55 yard field goal to extend their lead to 20-10 with 9:11 left in the quarter. St Marie then connected with
Ryan Keith with a 59 yard TD pass to trim the lead to 20-17 with 2:50 left.
The Warriors put the game away with a 17 play, 97 yard drive that took 10:57 off the clock to build a 27-17 lead. Bataineh hit a 34 yard field goal with 35 seconds left to close out the scoring.
ESU led in total offense with 338 yards to 318 for the Griffins. SHU had 19 first downs to 18 for ESU.
St Marie threw for 217 yards and a touchdown.
Ahmad Ward rushed for 52 yards.
Reginald Hunter had 4 catches for 52 yards. Keith had two for 65 yards and a TD.
Lucas Simone led the Griffins with 18 total tackles.
SHU will host West Liberty next Saturday afternoon.
