SHU to Travel to Pace for NCAA Tournament

Seton Hill will hit the road and travel to Pleasantville, NY for the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  This season, the Griffins earned the fifth seed out of the North Region and will travel to fourth seed Pace in the first round of the tournament.  The game will take place on Sunday afternoon at 1 PM at Northwell Stadium.

Live stats will be available thru the Pace Sidearm Stats Page.  Live video of the contest will be available thru the NCAA Champ Pass and NCAA.com. Tickets for the matchup can be purchased thru the Pace Ticketing Office.  Adults are $10, students and senior citizens are $5 and any SHU/Pace student staff will be admitted free with a school ID.  

The Griffins enter with an 16-2 record while the Setters enter with a 12-5 record.  The Griffins and Pace have met twice with each team earning a win on their homer field.  

Seton Hill earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with their G-MAC Championship.  Pace earned an at large bid after falling to Adelphi in the NE-10 Championship contest.  

This is the seventh appearance for the Griffins in the NCAA Tournament.  SHU is 3-3 all time in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and 3-6 all time in NCAA Tournament action.  SHU is 1-3 on the road in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  

Earlier this season on March 21st, Seton Hill traveled to Pleasantville, NY for a matchup with #11 Pace.  Pace used a 4-0 run in the fourth quarter as they defeated the Griffins 12-10.  The Griffins got off to a fast start as they scored three times in the first three minutes of the first quarter.  Dexter Hannigan, Nate Herbster and Andrew Mathieu scored as SHU led 3-0 with 12:49 left in the first quarter.  Pace scored two of the next three goals with a Riley Grudi goals sandwiched in between.  The Griffins led 4-2 after one quarter of play.  Less than a minute into the second quarter, Carter Li scored as the Griffins took a 5-2 lead.  Pace answered back with four straight to take a 6-5 lead with 3:23 left in the quarter.  Gavin Erickson scored with 15 seconds left to tie the score at six at the half.  Kaden Granberg scored with 6:48 left in the third as the Griffins took a 7-6 lead.  Pace scored the final two goals of the quarter as they took an 8-7 lead over the Griffins after three quarters.  Hannigan opened the scoring in the fourth quarter as SHU tied the score at eight less than a minute into the fourth quarter.  Pace scored the next four as they took a 12-8 lead with 2:49 to play in the contest.  Erickson and Green scored as the Griffins cut the lead to 12-10 with 1:06 left.  Erickson and Hannigan scored a pair and added an assist.  Green finished with a goal and two assists.  Will Cody made 14 saves.

Cody has a 15-2 record this season with a 6.78 goals against average.  He has made 185 saves.  Hannigan leads the Griffins with 51 goals and 61 points.  Carter Green leads the Griffins with 27 assists.  He added 18 goals.  Ryan McCann had 15 ground balls and 8 caused turnovers.  Granberg is fourth on the team with 28 goals.  He added 6 assists.  Cullen Green leads the Griffins with 26 caused turnovers.  He added 51 ground balls.  Austin Day was second with 24 caused turnovers.  He added 50 ground balls.    Li is second on the team with 35 goals.  Herbster has added 32.  

Will Danowski leads the Setters with 45 goals and 60 points.  Matt Baldino is right behind with 42 goals and 16 assists.  Declan Landers has added 24 goals.  Zach Goetze has added 16 assists.  Chris Butler leads the defense with 24 caused turnovers and 44 ground balls.  Brian Brennan added 21 caused turnovers and 30 ground balls.  Jack Kern is 9-5 in net.  He has an 8.98 ERA and has made 131 saves.
