Griffins Drop Game One of Atlantic Regional #2 Final

Seton Hill continued play in the 2026 NCAA Tournament with an Atlantic Regional #2 matchup with host Millersville at Cooper Park in Millersville, PA in game one of the best of three series to determine which team heads to the NCAA Atlantic Super Regional.   

Millersville took a 1-0 lead in the best of the three series with an 8-3 victory over the Griffins. The Marauders scored seven of the final eight runs of the contest, including the game winning five in the seventh.  SHU is now 42-11 on the season.  

The Marauders took a 1-0 lead over the Griffins in the bottom of the third inning.  Millersville used a single, double off the wall and a sacrifice fly to take the lead.  

SHU responded in the top half of the fourth inning when Owen Mandler homered to lead off the inning and tie the score at one.  

The Griffins took the lead in the top of the sixth.  Owen Mandler doubled to lead off the inning. After a force out, Mason Metz singled to put runners on first and second.  After a fly out, Jack Whalen reached on an infield single and Gage Wheaton scored on an aggressive send from third to out the Griffins in front.  Brady McGuire singled thru the left side to increase the Griffins lead to 3-1.  

The Marauders tied the score at three in the bottom half of the inning.  Millersville put runners on second and third with one out after a pair of singles and a sacrifice bunt.  A sacrifice fly and two out infield single tied the game at three.  

Millersville sent 10 batters to the plate, scoring five times in the bottom of the seventh inning.  The huge hit in the inning was a two out, three run homer that gave the Marauders a 6-3 lead.  

Owen Henne homered with two outs in the ninth to trim the lead to 8-4.  

Colin Ahr and Owen Mandler each had three hits to lead the Griffins.  Ahr doubled while Mandler doubled and homered.  Metz and Henne each added a pair of hits.  

Seton Hill will play Millersville on Saturday afternoon at 11 AM as they continue regional play.
