Seton Hill opened play in the 2026 NCAA Tournament with an Atlantic Regional #2 matchup with Charleston (WV) at Cooper Park in Millersville, PA.
The Griffins scored the final five runs of the contest, including four in the sixth inning as they rallied for a 5-2 victory over the Golden Eagles. SHU is now 42-10 overall.
The Golden Eagles jumped on the Griffins and starter
Sean Williams in the top of the first inning, scoring two runs on four hits. Two wild pitches aided in the inning as UC scored a pair of runs.
Seton Hill got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth.
Brady McGuire and
Owen Henne drew walks to put the first two runners on. They stole to put runners on second and third with no one out. After a strikeout,
Jakob Haynes was walked intentionally to load the bases.
Owen Mandler followed with a sacrifice fly to left center field to cut the lead to 2-1. An infield pop end ended the threat, stranding two runners.
The Griffins sent 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring four times to take a 5-2 lead. McGuire led off with a single and stole second.
Owen Henne was hit by a pitch and
Colin Ahr singled on an infield bunt to load the bases. Haynes singled thru the right side to tie the score at two.
Owen Mandler walked to force in a run and give the Griffins a 3-2 lead.
Nate Dorinsky reached on a fielders choice with Ahr scoring.
Jack Whalen then drew a bases loaded walk to increase the Griffins lead to 5-2.
McGuire led the Griffins with a pair of hits.
Owen Mandler drove in a pair of runs. Williams earned the win. He worked six innings, allowing just the two first inning runs.
Christian Zilli earned the save, with two scoreless innings.
Seton Hill will play Millersville on Friday afternoon at noon as they continue regional play.
