Seton Hill began their final weekend of conference play with a doubleheader at CalU on Friday afternoon.
CalU took game one in walk off fashion with a 5-4 win over the Griffins. SHU responded with a 7-2 win in game two. The Griffins are now 24-21 overall and 17-9 in the PSAC West.
The Vulcans took a 2-0 lead over the Griffins in the third inning of game one. SHU took a lead in the sixth.
Kassidy Wittig singled and
Shelby Telegdy drew a walk. Both runners moved up on a bunt from
Danielle Terpack.
Lacey Lynn was walked intentionally to load the bases.
Taylor Schmitt came thru with a bases clearing three RBI double to put the Griffins in front 3-2. CalU scored a pair in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-3 lead.
Wittig homered on a 3-1 pitch with two outs in the top of the seventh to tie the score at four. CalU used an infield single to walk off the Griffins in the seventh.
Wittig and Lynn each had two hits.
The Griffins took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two.
Abby Dejidas reached on an error to start the inning. Wittig was hit by a pitch and Telegdy singled to load the bases. Terpack drove in a run with a groundout and Lynn followed with a sacrifice fly to give SHU a 2-0 lead.
SHU added three more in the second.
McKenna DeUnger singled with one out. She scored on a Wittig RBI single. Telegdy followed with a two run homer to center field as the Griffins took a 5-0 lead.
Seton Hill added two more insurance runs in the fifth. Wittig walked to lead off the inning and stole second. She scored on a Telegdy double. Lynn followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 7-0.
Telegdy led the offense with 3 hits and 3 RBI. Lynn added two RBI. Lynn also earned the win in the circle.
SHU will close out the regular season on Saturday when they travel to IUP.
