Softball Swept at IUP in Regular Season Finale

Seton Hill concluded conference play as they traveled to Indiana (PA) for a PSAC West doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

The Crimson Hawks defeated the Griffins 17-2 in game one of the doubleheader.  IUP completed the sweep with a 9-5 win in game two.  SHU is now 24-23 overall and 17-11 in the west.  

IUP scored four times in the first inning and added seven more in the second inning.  IUP scored a pair in the third.  

The Griffins got a pair of runs in the fourth.  Danielle Terpack singled to lead off the inning.  Later in the inning, Taylor Schmitt homered to cut the IUP lead to 13-2.  

Schmitt homered and Lacey Lynn doubled in the loss. 

IUP took a 1-0 lead over the Griffins in the third inning of game two.  SHU responded with four runs in the fourth.  Kassidy Wittig reached on an error to lead off the inning.  SHU moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a Schmitt RBI single.  Angelina LaMarca followed with a single to put two runners on.  Abby Smearman doubled in a pair and Skylah Steban singled to score Smearman as the Griffins took a 4-1 lead.  

The Crimson Hawks scored eight times in the bottom half of the inning to take a 9-4 lead.  In the top of the fifth, Abby Dejidas singled to lead off the inning.  Wittig reached on an error to put runners on first and third.  Lynn scored Dejidas with a sacrifice fly as SHU cut the lead to 9-5.  

LaMarca led the offense with two hits.  Smearman added two RBI.  

The Griffins will begin play in the PSAC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon in Binghamton, NY.
