Softball Sweeps Doubleheader at Edinboro

Seton Hill continued PSAC West play on Thursday afternoon as they traveled to Edinboro for a conference doubleheader with the Fighting Scots.

Seton Hill scored six times in the fourth and fifth innings in a 12-4, 5 inning win in game one.  SHU completed the sweep with an 11-5 win in game two.  SHU is now 17-13 overall and 10-2 in the west.  

Edinboro used back to back singles to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of game one.  

SHU scored six times in the top of the fourth.  Taylor Schmitt and Lacey Lynn homered to lead off the inning and give SHU a 2-1 lead.  Maddie Miller walked and McKenna DeUnger singled.  Rilie Moors walked to load the bases.  Abby Dejidas walked to force in the third run.  Kassidy Wittig and Shelby Telegdy singled to drive in runs.  The sixth run scored when Schmitt reached on a fielders choice.  

The Griffins added six more in the fifth.  Danielle Terpack singled.  Miller walked and DeUnger reached on an error to load the bases.  Moors walked to make it 7-1.  Dejidas followed with a bases clearing triple to increase the lead to 10-1.  Wittig singled in a run and Telegdy drove in two with a double as SHU took a 12-1 lead.  

Dejidas, Wittig and Telegdy each had two hits.  Dejidas drove in four.  Wittig, Telegdy and Schmitt each added two RBI.  

Edinboro took a 1-0 lead over the Griffins in the second inning of game two.  SHU responded with three runs in their half of the fourth.  Telegdy homered to lead off the inning.  Lynn doubled and scored on an RBI single from Anna Kalkowski.  Juliette Vybiral doubled to score Kalkowski and give the Griffins a 3-1 lead.  

The Fighting Scots used a single, three walks and a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 3 in the bottom of the fourth.  

The game was not tied for long as Dejidas homered to lead off the top of the fifth inning and give the Griffins a 4-3 lead.  SHU added seven more runs in the inning for a 11-3 lead.  Wittig and Telegdy both singled and scored on a double from Schmitt.  Kalkowski doubled to give SHU a 7-3 lead.  DeUnger followed with an RBI single.  Vybiral added an RBI double as SHU led 9-3.  Moors and Dejidas followed with RBI doubles to increase the lead to 11-3.  

Edinboro got two runs back in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 11-5.  

Dejidas and Vybiral led the Griffins with 3 hits.  Telegdy, Schmitt, Lynn and Kalkowski each added two hits.  Dejidas, Schmitt, Kalkowski and Vybiral each drove in two.    

The Griffins will continue PSAC West play as they travel to Pitt Johnstown on Friday.
