Seton Hill continued PSAC West play on Friday afternoon as they traveled to Johnstown for a conference doubleheader with UPJ.
The Mountain Cats took game one by the score of 8-3. UPJ completed the sweep with a 12-4 win in game two. SHU falls to 17-15 overall and 10-4 in the west. Â
Pitt Johnstown scored four times in the bottom of the first inning as they took a 4-0 lead. Three of those runs were unearned. UPJ used a two run homer to take the 4-0 lead. Â
SHU cut the lead to 4-3 in the fifth.Â
Maddie Miller led the inning off with an infield single.Â
Rilie Moors drew a walk. Both runners moved up on a groundout.Â
Kassidy Wittig drove in a run with a infield hit. Moors scored on a wild pitch and Wittig scored on an RBI single from
Shelby Telegdy that cut the lead to 4-3. Â
UPJ got one of those runs back to take a 5-3 lead after five innings. The Mountain Cats added three more in the sixth. Â
Wittig, Telegdy and Moors each had two hits. Â
UPJ took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of game two without a hit, thanks to four straight two out walks. SHU tied the game in the top of the second. They used singles from
Lacey Lynn,
Danielle Terpack and
Juliette Vybiral to load the bases. Terpack scored on an RBI ground out from Moors to tie the score at one.Â
SHU took the lead in the top of the third. Wittig reached on an error and moved to third on two wild pitches. She scored on an RBI single from
Taylor Schmitt. Â
UPJ scored a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 3-2 lead over the Griffins. The Griffins tied it in the top of the fourth.Â
McKenna DeUnger singled to lead off the inning. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Vybiral. DeUnger scored on a two out, RBI double from Dejidas that tied the game at three. Â
SHU took a lead in the fifth. Telegdy doubled and pinch runner Lexi Washington scored on a RBI single from Lynn as SHU took a 4-3 lead. Â
Pitt Johnstown sent 14 batters to the plate and scored 9 times to end the game in the fifth. Â
Lynn had two hits for the Griffins. Â
The Griffins will continue PSAC West play as they host Indiana (PA) on Saturday.  Â
