Seton Hill took a break from PSAC West play as they hosted Frostburg State in an important Atlantic Regional contest on Wednesday afternoon.
Frostburg rallied from 2-0 down for a 3-2 win over the Griffins. SHU is now 25-7 overall while Frostburg improves to 25-6.
Seton Hill took a 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to
Jack Whalen. Whalen singled and stole second with moving to third on an error. He scored on a wild pitch to give SHU a 1-0 lead.
SHU added a second run in the second. They used three straight singles from
Gage Wheaton,
Nate Dorinsky and
Mason Metz to take a 2-0 lead. Frostburg State tied the score at two with a big two out, 2 RBI single in the third.
Frostburg State scored an unearned run in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead over the Griffins.
The Griffins loaded the bases with one out in the ninth but the Bobcats got a pair of strikeouts to end the contest.
Whalen and Wheaton each had two hits for the Griffins.
The Griffins will begin a four game PSAC West series with Pitt Johnstown with a road doubleheader in Johnstown on Friday afternoon.
