Seton Hill returned to PSAC West play as they traveled to Pitt Johnstown for a conference doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
The Griffins scored 11 times in the first two innings in a 14-2 win in game one. Seton Hill completed the sweep with a 6-1 win in game two. The Griffins are now 27-7 overall and 14-0 in the PSAC West.
The Griffins scored four times in the top of the first.
Brady McGuire homered with one out.
Owen Henne,
Jakob Haynes and
Colin Ahr singled with Henne scoring on Ahr's hit. Two more runs scored on a
Mason Metz double as SHU took a 4-0 lead. UPJ scored two in the bottom of the first to cut the lead in half.
SHU added 7 more in the second.
Joe Fiedor and
Jack Whalen singled and both moved up on a wild pitch. Both runners scored on a sacrifice fly from McGuire. Henne and Haynes both singled with Henne scoring on an Ahr hit. Metz added an RBI single and Fiedor drew a bases loaded walk. Whalen and McGuire also drew bases loaded walks to give SHU an 11-2 lead.
Gage Wheaton homered in the third to give SHU a 12-2 lead. McGuire and Henne each added RBIs in the sixth as the Griffins took a 14-2 lead.
Henne and Metz each had three hits each. Metz drove in three. Haynes and Ahr each added two hits.
Luke Deschenes earned the complete game win. He struck out 6.
The Griffins got on the board first in game two, scoring in the second inning. Ahr singled with one out and scored on a two out, two run homer from Wheaton as SHU took a 2-0 lead. SHU added a third run in the fourth. Ahr doubled and scored on a Metz RBI single.
SHU added three more in the fifth. Whalen doubled to lead off the inning. He scored on a Henne RBI single. Haynes was hit by a pitch. Ahr followed with an RBI single. Metz added a sacrifice fly to make it 6-0.
Ahr led the offense with four hits. Metz and Wheaton each drove in two.
Mark Wechtenhiser earned the win. He struck out 7 in 5 innings.
The Griffins will begin a four game PSAC West series with Pitt Johnstown with a road doubleheader in Johnstown on Friday afternoon.
