Seton Hill continued PSAC West play as they traveled to Gannon for a conference doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
Gannon walked off the Griffins with a 4-3 win in 10 innings of game one. SHU earned the split of the doubleheader with a 12-1 win in game two. The Griffins are now 35-9 overall and 20-2 in the PSAC West.
The Griffins took a lead in the third inning of game one.
Nate Simon singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Jack Whalen.
Brady McGuire singled to score Simon and give SHU a 1-0 lead.
Gannon used four singles and an error to take a 3-1 lead over the Griffins in the bottom of the fifth. SHU tied the score at three in their final at bat.
Owen Mandler and Simon singled to put runners at first and second with one out. The pair stole with Mandler scoring on an error and pinch runner
Austyn Winkleblech reaching third. Winkleblech scored on an RBI groundout from Whalen that tied the score at three.
The Golden Knights walked off the Griffins with a sacrifice fly with one out in the bottom of the tenth inning.
Simon was 3-3 for the Griffins.
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game two. McGuire and
Owen Henne singled to put runners on first and third. McGuire scored on an RBI single from
Colin Ahr.
SHU added three more runs in the fifth inning.
Owen Henne drew a leadoff walk. Ahr singled to put two runners on. Both runners moved up on a
Jakob Haynes sacrifice bunt.
Owen Mandler singled to score Henne.
Gage Wheaton singled to drive in two and give the Griffins a 4-0 lead.
Seton Hill added on in the sixth. Whalen reached on an infield single. He stole second and scored on a McGuire RBI single. Henne and Ahr walked to load the bases. Haynes then cleared the bases with a grand slam that gave SHU a 9-0 lead. McGuire drew a bases loaded walk and Henne added a two RBI single to give SHU a 12-0 lead.
McGuire and Henne each had three hits in game two. They each drove in two. Haynes added 4 RBI.
Mark Wechtenhiser earned the win in game two. He went 6 innings, allowing just one hit while striking out five.
The Griffins will continue PSAC West action as they host Gannon on Sunday afternoon.
