Seton Hill continued PSAC West play as they hosted Gannon for a conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.
Seton Hill won game one by the score of 7-2. SHU completes the sweep of Gannon with an 8-1 win in game two. SHU is now 37-9 overall and 22-2 in the west. The Griffins clinch their fourth straight PSAC Western Division title.
The Griffins wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in game one.
Jack Whalen drew a lead off walk.
Owen Henne and
Colin Ahr walked to load the bases with one out. Whalen scored on a sacrifice fly from
Jakob Haynes.
Mason Metz followed with a three run shot to left center field that put the Griffins in front 4-0.
SHU added three more runs in the third on just one hit.
Owen Mandler drew a bases loaded walk. Haynes scored on a wild pitch and Metz scored on a sacrifice fly from
Nate Simon to give SHU a 7-0 lead.
Gannon scored a pair of unearned runs in the top of the sixth to trim the Griffin lead to 7-2.
Wheaton led the Griffins with two hits.
SHU did not waste any time in getting on the scoreboard in game two. Whalen drew a leadoff walk. Three straight singles from Henne, Ahr and Haynes gave the Griffins a 2-0 lead. SHU extended the lead with an unearned run in the bottom of the second.
Gannon cut the lead to 3-1 in the top of the fifth inning. The Griffins got that run right back in the bottom of the fifth on a two out solo shot from Haynes.
The Griffins added insurance runs in the sixth with a leadoff solo shot to left center from Wheaton. Henne added an RBI double and Ahr added an RBI single as SHU took an 8-1 lead.
Haynes led the Griffins with 3 hits. Henne, Ahr and Simon each added two hits.
Zachary McLean earned the win.
Brodie Kuzior picked up a save.
The Griffins will continue PSAC West action as they travel to Clarion on Thursday afternoon.
