Seton Hill continued PSAC West play on Thursday afternoon as they traveled to Erie for a conference doubleheader with Gannon.
The Griffins took game one by the score of 4-1. SHU completed the sweep of Gannon with an 8-5 win in game two. SHU is now 15-13 overall and 8-2 in the PSAC. Â
SHU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning of game one. With one out,
Kassidy Wittig tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly from
Shelby Telegdy. The Griffins added two more in the fourth. Wittig and Telegdy singled to put two runners on.Â
Taylor Schmitt reached on an error on a sacrifice bunt attempt to load the bases.Â
Lacey Lynn followed with a two RBI single to extend the Griffins lead to 3-1. Â
The Golden Knights cut the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning. SHU added an insurance run in the seventh.Â
McKenna DeUnger was hit by a pitch and later scored on a RBI infield single from Wittig. Â
Wittig led the Griffins with three hits. Lynn drove in two and Telegdy added one RBI. Telegdy earned the win in the circle with a complete game effort. She struck out six. Â
Gannon scored single runs in their first two at bats of game two as they took a 2-0 lead over the Griffins. Â
SHU responded with three runs in the top of the third.Â
Abby Dejidas reached on an infield single and stole second. Wittig singled to put runners on first and third. Dejidas and Wittig then executed a double steal to cut the lead to 2-1. Telegdy homered to center to give SHU a 3-2 lead. Â
DeUnger drew a leadoff walk to start the fourth. She stole second and moved to third on a groundout. Wittig walked and stole second to put runners on second and third with one out. Telegdy singled to center to score both runners and give the Griffins a 5-2 lead. Â
SHU added three more in the fifth.Â
Maddie Miller reached on an infield single to start the inning. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Abby Smearman.Â
Rilie Moors reached on an infield single and stole second. Both runners scored on a triple from Dejidas. Wittig added an RBI single to increase the lead to 8-4. Â
Wittig led the Griffins with three hits. Dejidas and Telegdy added two hits. Telegdy drove in four and Dejidas two. Lynn earned the win in the circle with a complete game. Â
The Griffins will take a break for Easter before returning to PSAC West play as they travel to Edinboro on Tuesday.  Â
