Seton Hill continued PSAC West play as they traveled to California (PA) in a PSAC West doubleheader to close out the four game set on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins took game one by the score of 6-2. CalU won game two by the score of 6-4 to earn the split. SHU is now 33-8 overall and 19-1 in the west.
SHU scored twice in the first inning of game one.
Brady McGuire singled and moved to second when
Owen Henne walked.
Colin Ahr doubled to give SHU a 1-0 lead.
Jakob Haynes added an RBI single as SHU took a 2-0 lead. CalU cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second inning.
Seton Hill added four more in the fifth.
Heath Fetchik was hit by a pitch.
Nate Simon moved the runner up with a sacrifice bunt.
Jack Whalen singled in a run. McGuire reached on a bunt base hit. Henne drove in a run with a fielders choice. Haynes made it 6-1 with an RBI single.
Ahr was 3-3 in game one. McGuire added two hits.
Sean Williams picked up his eighth win.
CalU took a 5-0 lead over the Griffins after four innings. SHU scored a pair in the top of the fifth.
Gage Wheaton doubled and scored on a Simon two run homer as SHU trimmed the lead to 5-2.
SHU cut the lead to 5-4 in the sixth. Henne singled to lead off the inning. Henne scored on a Haynes RBI single.
Owen Mandler knocked in Haynes with a single to make it 5-4. CalU used a solo homer to push their lead to 6-4 in the sixth.
McGuire, Henne, Haynes and Wheaton each with two hits.
The Griffins will take a break from PSAC West action as they travel to West Liberty on Tuesday afternoon.
