Box Score Seton Hill took a break from PSAC West play as they traveled to West Liberty for a non conference 9 inning contest on Tuesday afternoon.
The Griffins scored in eight of the nine innings as they defeated the Hilltoppers by the score of 22-5. SHU is now 34-8 overall on the season.
SHU took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Jack Whalen singled to lead off the contest and scored on a two run shot from
Brady McGuire. West Liberty cut the lead in half in the bottom half of the inning.
The Griffins added another run in the third.
Colin Ahr singled to lead off the inning.
Nate Dorinsky was hit by a pitch.
Gage Wheaton singled to score Ahr and give SHU a 3-1 lead.
SHU added a pair in the fourth. McGuire drew a leadoff walk and scored on a
Jakob Haynes RBI single. Haynes scored on a Wheaton RBI single as SHU took a 5-1 lead. The Hilltoppers took advantage of five walks in the fourth to trim the Griffin lead to 5-4.
Seton Hill added three more in the fifth.
Nate Simon singled to lead off the inning. Whalen drew a walk and McGuire singled to score Simon.
Owen Henne followed with a two run double as SHU took an 8-4 lead. SHU added three more in the sixth. McGuire drew a bases loaded walk and Henne was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Simon added an RBI single in the seventh to extend the Griffin lead to 12-4. The Griffins added seven runs in the eighth.
Owen Mandler drew a bases loaded walk.
Michael Gregos doubled in two runs. Simon was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Whalen singled in a run and McGuire added two runs with a double. Gregos,
Austyn Winkleblech and
Joe Fiedor each drove in runs in the ninth.
Whalen and McGuire each had three hits. McGuire drove in six. Henne, Ahr, Haynes, Wheaton and Simon each added two hits.
The Griffins will return to PSAC West action as they travel to Gannon on Friday afternoon.
