Seton Hill took a break from PSAC West play as they hosted Point Park in a non conference matchup.
The Griffins defeated Point Park 8-1 in a rain shortened 8 inning contest. The Griffins are now 30-7 overall.
Point Park took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third with a solo homer. The Griffins responded with three in the third.
Jack Whalen and
Brady McGuire singled to put runners on second and third.
Owen Henne followed with a two RBI single as SHU took a 2-1 lead. Later in the inning,
Jakob Haynes drove in Henne with a sacrifice fly.
SHU added on in the fifth inning. Henne was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Haynes then reached on a strikeout wild pitch.
Mason Metz followed with a book rule double to score Henne. Pinch hitter
Gage Wheaton then homered to left field to give the Griffins a 7-1 lead.
The Griffins added another run in the sixth. Singles from Whalen and Henne put runners on first and third.
Colin Ahr executed a bunt to score Whalen and give SHU an 8-1 lead.
Whalen and Henne each had three hits. McGuire added two hits. Wheaton drove in three and Henne added two RBIs.
The Griffins will begin a four game PSAC West series with California (PA) with a hoe doubleheader in Greensburg on Friday afternoon.
