Seton Hill concluded their four game PSAC West set with Indiana (PA) with a road doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.
The Griffins won game one by the score of 6-3 and completed the four game sweep of the Crimson Hawks with a 13-8 win in game two. SHU is now 21-5 overall and 8-0 in the PSAC West.
IUP took a 2-0 lead over the Griffins with a two run homer in the bottom of the second inning. The Griffins responded in the top of the fourth inning.
Owen Henne singled to lead off the inning and scored on a two run bomb from
Jakob Haynes that tied the score at two.
The Crimson Hawks retook the lead in the fifth when they scored on a wild pitch to take a 3-2 lead. SHU answered in the top of the sixth. Henne walked and scored on a second two run bomb from Haynes that put the Griffins in front 4-3.
Brady Stone walked and later scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-3.
Nate Dorinsky added a sacrifice fly in the seventh to give SHU a 6-3 lead.
Henne, Haynes and
Colin Ahr each had two hits. Haynes drove in four.
Sean Williams earned the win and
Zach Herb picked up a save.
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game two.
Brady McGuire doubled, stole third and scored on an RBI groundout from Henne. IUP answered back with a run in their half of the second.
SHU took a 6-1 lead in the third inning.
Austyn Winkleblech reached on an error and scored on a two run shot from
Jack Whalen. McGuire doubled and Henne singled with McGuire scoring on an error to increase the SHU lead to 4-1. Haynes then homered for the third time on the day, giving SHU a 6-1 lead. The Griffins increased their lead to 7-1 in the fourth. With two outs, Whalen singled and moved to second on an error before moving to third on a wild pitch. He scored on a McGuire RBI single.
IUP scored three times in the fifth on an RBI double and two run homer to cut the lead to 7-4. The Griffins got those three runs right back in the top of the sixth on a three run homer from
Jack Whalen to put the Griffins in front 10-4.
IUP got one in the sixth but the Griffins answered with three in their half of the seventh to take a 13-5 lead.
Whalen led the offense with four hits, including two homers and 7 RBI. McGuire added three hits. Ahr added a pair of hits.
Jack Pletcher earned the win. He went 4 innings, allowing no earned runs.
The Griffins will travel to Shepherd for a non conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon.
