Softball Walks Off the Rock to Complete Sweep

Seton Hill continued PSAC West play on Friday afternoon as they hosted Slippery Rock in a conference doubleheader.

The Griffins rallied for a 4-3 win in game one.  SHU then scored three times in the bottom of the seventh of game two for a 5-4 walk off win to earn the sweep.  SHU is now 13-13 overall and 6-2 in the west.

Slippery Rock took advantage of a SHU throwing error with two outs in the top of the third to take a 1-0 lead over the Griffins.  The Rock used back to back doubles and an RBI single to increase their lead to 3-0 in the fourth inning.

The Griffins took the lead in the fourth.  Taylor Schmitt doubled to lead off the inning.  Abby Smearman followed with a single to put two runners on.  Lacey Lynn then homered to left field to tie the score at three.  Rilie Moors followed with a single and scored on a double from Abby Dejidas to put SHU in front 4-3.

Dejidas was 3-3 in the win. Lynn drove in three.  Shelby Telegdy earned the win in the circle.

Slippery Rock took a 2-0 lead over the Griffins in game two in the top of the first inning.

The Griffins tied the game at two in the third.  Juliette Vybiral singled and Moors walked to put two runners on.  Dejidas moved both runners up with a bunt.  Vybiral scored on an RBI groundout from Kassidy Wittig.  Telegdy followed with an RBI single to tie the score at two.

The Rock answered right back with a one out homer in the top of the fourth to give the Rock a 3-2 lead.  Slippery Rock added a solo homer to lead off the fifth to increase their lead to 4-2.

SHU completed the seventh inning rally all with two outs.  Dejidas, Wittig and Telegdy all singled to load the bases.  Schmitt drew a walk to cut the lead to 4-3.  Lacey Lynn then reached on a fielders choice with Wittig scoring the tying run and Telegdy scoring on an error for the winning run.

Dejidas and Telegdy each had two hits.

The Griffins will take a break from PSAC West play as they travel to Fairmont State for a non conference doubleheader.
