Seton Hill hosted Edinboro on Saturday afternoon in a PSAC West matchup with third place in the west on the line.
The Griffins jumped out to a 25-7 first quarter lead and never looked back in an 84-65 win over the Fighting Scots. SHU is now 19-7 overall and 15-5 in the PSAC while the Scots drop to 17-12 and 14-6 in the PSAC.
SHU came out of the gates fast, building an 8-0 lead and holding the Scots off the scoreboard for nearly the first five minutes of the contest. A three pointer from
Hailee Ford and four straight points from
Hallie Cowan led to an 11-0 run that gave the Griffins a 19-2 lead 3:32 left in the quarter. The Scots cut the lead to 13 before a 6-1 Griffin run to end the quarter pushed the Griffin lead to 25-7.
A three from
Mia Kalich and a basket from
Hallie Cowan and two Ford free throws pushed the Griffin lead to 35-11 with 7:43 to play in the first half.
Helene Cowan hit a three with 2:27 left in the half as SHU pushed its lead to 44-20. SHU held a 46-26 lead at the halftime break.
Edinboro made one last run at the Griffins as they used a 10-0 run to trim the lead to 48-36 with 7:12 left in the third. SHU was able to push their lead back to 18 before settling for a 59-44 lead after the third quarter.
The Scots cut the lead to 13 at one point in the fourth but would get no closer as the Griffins clinched third place with the win.
Helene Cowan led the Griffins with 19 points. Kalich posted a double double of 18 points and 14 rebounds. Ford finished with 15 points and 9 rebounds.
Hallie Cowan added 13 points.
SHU will host sixth seed Clarion on Monday evening in the first round of the PSAC Tourney.
