The Griffins hit the road for the first time this season as they traveled to Indianapolis for a non conference matchup with UIndy.
SHU took a lead early in the third quarter and never trailed again in a 10-9 win over the Grayhounds. SHU is now 3-0 on the season. Â
UIndy opened the scoring less than a minute into the contest. The Griffins responded with a pair of goals from
Carter Li and
Gavin Erickson to lead 2-1 at the 7:22 mark. The Grayhounds scored two of the next three goals as they tied the score at three after one quarter. Â
The Grayhounds scored the opening goal of the second quarter before the Griffins scored the next two to take a 5-4 halftime lead.Â
Tiernan Lynch and
Kaden Granberg scored for the Griffins in the second. Â
For the third straight quarter, UIndy scored the opening goal to tie the score at five.Â
Michael Coleman and Li scored a minute apart to put the Griffins in front 7-5 with 11:19 left in the third.Â
Dexter Hannigan scored the other SHU goal in the quarter as the Griffins led 8-7 after three.Â
Lynch and
Carter Green scored for SHU as they took a 10-7 lead with 3:18 left in the fourth.
Li scored a pair and added two assists. Granberg and Lynch each scored two. Erickson added a goal and three assists.Â
Will Cody made 19 saves in the win.Â
SHU will open G-MAC play on Wednesday when they host Lake Erie.
