Seton Hill hosted Edinboro on Saturday afternoon in a PSAC West matchup with fourth place and a home game in the PSAC Tournament on the line.
Dean Simos hit a three at the buzzer to give the Grififns an 89-86 victory over the Scots. SHU is now 16-12 overall and 10-10 in the PSAC. With the win, the Griffins earn the fourth seed in the west and a home game on Monday evening in the PSAC first round.
The teams exchanged the lead three times over the first three minutes of the contest. Five points from
Kedrick Curtis and two more from Simos gave SHU a 13-7 lead with 13:49 left in the half. A three pointer from
Camden Brewer extended the lead to 18-10 with 11:56 left in the half. Edinboro tied the score at 22 with 8:25 left. There were 10 lead changes and five ties over the final eight minutes of the half. SHU and Edinboro were tied at 38 at the half.
It was all Brewer over the first three minutes of the second half. Camden hit a three to open the second half scoring and then scored 13 of the first 15 Griffin points as they built a 53-40 lead with 17:14 left. The Scots were able to trim the lead to six at the midpoint of the half. A three point play from
Rashaad Williams extended the Griffin lead to nine. Later in the half, the Scots used a 7-0 run to take an 81-79 lead with 3:30 to play. A Williams jumper tied the game at 81 with 3:17 left. The teams exchanged three pointers to tie the game at 84 with 2:24 left. Curtis put the Griffins in front with a layin with 30 seconds left. The Scots answered 10 seconds later, tying the score at 86. That play set up the game winner from Simos at the buzzer. Simos hit his shot from right in front of the Griffin bench.
Brewer was 10-11 from the floor, finishing with 26 points. Curtis added 21 points.
Dimitrios Sklavenitis added 16 points and 9 rebounds. Williams finished with 13 and Simos added 9.
SHU will host Slippery Rock on Monday evening in the first round of the PSAC Tournament.
