Seton Hill traveled to Slippery Rock for a PSAC West matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins pulled away over the final three quarters as they defeated the Rock 98-71. SHU is now 17-7 overall and 13-5 in the PSAC.
Slippery Rock came out of the gates fast and did not trail the Griffins over the first six minutes of the contest. The first six minutes featured a pair of ties. SHU took their first lead on a three pointer from
Hallie Cowan with 3:27 left in the first quarter. Five straight points from
Helene Cowan gave SHU a 25-20 lead with a minute left in the quarter. SHU led 27-25 at the end of the first quarter.
A three pointer from
Helene Cowan and a fastbreak layup from
Mia Kalich extended the Griffin lead to 42-31 with six minutes to play before the half. The Rock cut the lead to 42-38 but the Griffins closed the half on a 11-3 run as they took a 53-41 lead into the halftime break.
The Griffins put the game away with an 8-0 run to open the third quarter.
Helene Cowan had five points and
Hailee Ford added the other three. SHU led 75-53 after three quarters of play.
SHU led by between 20 and 31 points in the fourth quarter.
Ford led the Griffins with 27 points.
Helene Cowan scored 21 points while
Hallie Cowan added 20.
SHU will host Pitt Johnstown on Wednesday evening.
