Seton Hill made the trip to Slippery Rock for a PSAC West matchup with the Rock on Saturday afternoon.
SHU jumped out to a 34-18 halftime lead and held on for a 67-59 win over the Rock. SHU is now 14-12 overall and 8-10 in the PSAC.
The Griffins came out of the gates playing great defense as they held the Rock to just four points in the first ten minutes of the first half. SHU led 15-4 after a
Dimitrios Sklavenitis three pointer with 9:13 left in the half.
Camden Brewer hit a three pointer at the buzzer as the Griffins took a 34-18 lead at the halftime break.
Two layups from
Dean Simos and one from
Kedrick Curtis pushed the Griffins lead to 40-21 two minutes into the second half. The Rock answered back with an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 40-29 at the 16 minute mark. The Griffins lead remained between seven and 13 until the three minute mark of the second half. The Rock used a 7-0 run to trim the Griffin lead to 58-55 with 1:34 to play. Curtis hit three of four free throws as SHU led 61-57 with 30 seconds to play. After a Rock layup, Sklavenitis hit four free throws after an intentional foul to put the game away.
Curtis led the Griffins with a double double of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Brewer added 17 points.
Rashaad Williams finished with 11. Simos added 10 points
SHU will host Pitt Johnstown on Wednesday evening.
