Seton Hill continued PSAC West play on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Indiana (PA) in the McKenna Center.
The Crimson Hawks jumped out to a big halftime lead and defeated the Griffins by the score of 95-84. SHU falls to 13-8 overall and 7-6 in the PSAC. IUP is now 14-4 overall and 9-3 in the PSAC.
The Griffins battled the Crimson Hawks over the first ten minutes of the contest.
Ben Myers hit a three pointer to give the Griffins a 10-8 lead at the 16:45 mark of the first half. Six straight points from
Gabe Gillespie extended the lead to 16-12 at the 14:14 mark. IUP retook the lead for good at 20-18 with 11:47 to play. A layup from
Dean Simos trimmed the lead to 33-27 with 7:37 to play. IUP hit five three pointers down the stretch of the half as they extended their lead to 58-35 at the halftime break.
Seton Hill was able to trim the IUP lead to 18 points on a
Rashaad Williams bucket with 13 minutes to play. A four point play from
Camden Brewer cut the lead to 69-53 with 11:33 to play. A three point play from
Brian Belade and a three from
Brandon Coury cut the lead to 93-81 with 47 seconds left.
Gillespie led six Griffins in double figures with a double double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Myers added 16 points. Brewer, Belade and Simos each added 11 points. Williams tossed in 10 points.
SHU will travel to Clarion for another PSAC West contest next Saturday.
