Seton Hill returned home as they hosted Clarion in PSAC West play on Saturday afternoon in Greensburg.
Mia Kalich posted her second triple double of the season as the Griffins scored a PSAC high 112 points in a 112-96 win over the Golden Eagles. SHU is now 12-2 overall and 8-0 in PSAC West action.
The Griffins did not get off to a fast start though as they trailed 6-2 just over a minute into the contest, forcing coach Gallagher to call a quick timeout. From that point on it was all Seton Hill as they outscored the Golden Eagles 37-12 over the final 8:40 of the first quarter. With Clarion leading 8-4, the Griffins went on a 15-0 run in less than a three minute stretch as they took a 19-8 lead with 5:39 left in the quarter.
Mia Kalich had six points in the run with
Hallie Cowan adding five. Midway through the half, the Griffins led 19-11. SHU then closed the quarter on a 20-7 run as they led 39-18 after one quarter of action.
Clarion battled back to within 13 points 43-30 at the midpoint of the second quarter. Back to back baskets from
Shaye Bailey and
Gianna Sturdivant pushed the lead to 52-34 with 3:37 to play in the first half. The Griffins led 62-41 at the halftime break.
The Griffins pushed their advantage to as many as 29 points in the third quarter.
SHU shot 54% from the floor while holding Clarion to just 10% from three point land. The Griffins forced 27 turnovers which led to 35 Griffin points.
Kalich led the Griffins with her second triple double of the season. She scored 16 points with 14 rebounds and 10 steals. Kalich also added five assists.
Hallie Cowan tied for game high honors with 23 points.
Hailee Ford also posted a double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Bailey also scored 16 points in the win.
Helene Cowan was the fifth Griffin in double figures with 11 points.
Seton Hill will travel to Erie for a PSAC West matchup with Gannon on Wednesday evening.
