Seton Hill opened up play in the 2025 PSAC Baseball Championships with a first round matchup with the fourth seed from the east Shippensburg at Cooper Park in Millersville.
The Griffins used a two out, walk off single from
Jakob Haynes to advance to the second round with a 6-5 victory over the Raiders. SHU is now 36-13 overall while Ship falls to 28-22.
The Raiders got on the scoreboard first in the top of the third inning with a two out RBI single.
SHU finally got to PSAC East Pitcher of the Year Jaxon Dalena in the fifth.
Brady McGuire singled to lead off the inning. He moved to third on a
Matt Frazetta single. McGuire scored on a sacrifice fly from Haynes. After singles from
Joe Fiedor and
Jack Whalen loaded the bases,
Owen Henne gave SHU a 2-1 lead with another sacrifice fly.
The Griffins scored two more in the sixth.
Max Mandler reached on an infield single.
Mark Black followed with a bunt base hit. With two outs, Haynes doubled to score two and extend the lead to 4-1. Fiedor followed with an RBI single and SHU led 5-1.
SHU held the 5-1 lead til the ninth inning when Shippensburg scored four times to tie the game at five.
Seton Hill was able to win it in the tenth. Blak drew a leadoff walk. He moved to second on a sac bunt from McGuire. After a fly out, Haynes singled up the middle to give SHU the 6-5 win.
Fiedor led the offense with three hits.
Colin Ahr, Frazetta and Haynes each added two hits. Haynes added four RBIs.
Jon McCullough worked 8+ innings and allowed three earned runs.
Zach Herb threw 1.1 scoreless to earn the win.
The Griffins will take on IUP in the second round of the PSAC Tourney on Thursday morning at 10 AM.
