Box Score Seton Hill continued play in the 2025 NCAA Division II Baseball Championships as they played on day two of the Atlantic Super Regional against East Stroudsburg at Creekview Park in Stroudsburg, PA on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins fought back to tie the score at three in the bottom of the ninth inning only to allow a grand slam with two outs in the top of the eleventh inning that resulted in 7-3 loss to end the Griffins season. ESU wins the Atlantic Super Regional 2-0 and SHU ends the season with a 40-18 record.
SHU took a lead in the bottom of the third inning. Jake Haynes led off the inning drawing a walk. He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Joe Fiedor.
Jack Whalen drew a walk to put two runners on.
Owen Henne then lined a single into right center field that scored Haynes and moved Whalen to third.
Matt Frazetta walked to load the bases with one out but the Warriors were able to get a first pitch double play to end the inning.
East Stroudsburg finally got on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning. They used three singles to score a pair of runs and take a 2-1 lead over the Griffins. The Warriors added a third run with a two out RBI double in the top of the sixth inning.
Seton Hill got one of those runs back in the bottom of the sixth inning. Frazetta doubled down the right field line to lead off the inning and scored on a big two out RBI single from
Colin Ahr as SHU cut the lead to 3-2.
SHU was down to their final strike in the ninth inning but found a way to tie the game. Haynes was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Pinch runner
Austyn Winkleblech stole second. After a pair of strikeouts, Henne singled on a 2-2 pitch to score Winkleblech and tie the game at three.
The game remained tied at three until the top of the eleventh when the Warriors scored four times on a grand slam on a 3-2 pitch with two outs.
Henne led the offense with three hits including the game tying hit in the ninth.
Christian Zilli worked two scoreless innings of relief.
