Seton Hill continued non conference play as they hosted Point Park an important NCAA Atlantic Regional contest on Wednesday afternoon.
Point Park jumped out to a 7-0 lead and defeated the Griffins 12-4 in non conference action. SHU falls to 28-12 overall while Point Park improves to 30-11.
Point Park wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as they took a 3-0 lead just three batters into the contest. They used a single, walk and homer to take the early lead. The Pioneers added four more runs in the second as they took a 7-0 lead.
SHU got a run back in the third inning.
Owen Yoder was hit by a pitch and scored on a triple from
Owen Henne.
Point Park answered with two more runs in the fourth inning as they increased their lead to 9-1. The Griffins got a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Yoder reached on an error, stole two bases and scored on a Henne sacrifice fly.
Gage Wheaton drew a bases loaded walk in the sixth and the Griffins added an unearned run in the eighth.
Matt Frazetta and
Mark Black each had two hits for SHU.
The Griffins will travel to Clarion on Friday for the first two games of their four game PSAC West series.
