Griffins Earn Series Win over Findlay

Seton Hill played the rubber game of their three game set with Findlay on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati, OH at Xavier University.  

SHU scored in six of their eight at bats as they won the series with an 11-1 victory over the Oilers.  SHU is now 8-3 on the season while Findlay falls to 6-7.  

The Griffins took a lead in the bottom of the first.  Owen Henne singled with one out and moved to second on a ground out.  He later scored on an RBI single from Jakob Haynes as SUH took a 1-0 lead.  

Findlay tied the game at one with a run in the top of the second inning.  SHU retook the lead in the fourth.  Colin Ahr was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.  He scored on a two out RBI single from Jack Whalen.  Henne followed with a double down the right field line to score Whalen and give SHU a 3-1 lead.  

Haynes singled to lead off the sixth inning and scored on a sacrifice fly from Ahr as the Griffins extended their lead to 4-1.  SHU added a run in the sixth.  Michael Gregos was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.  He moved to second on a sac bunt from Whalen and scored on a two out RBI single from Owen Mandler.  

SHU continued to add on in the seventh.  Brady McGuire homered to left field to lead off the inning and give SHU a 6-1 lead.  The Griffins added two more runs off a throwing error to increase their lead to 8-1. The Griffins added three more in the eighth.  McGuire drove in one with a single and Max Mandler added two more with a single.   

Ian Korn improved to 3-0 with a six inning performance.  He allowed just one run on three hits while striking out 10.  

McGuire led the offense with four hits including a homer.  Henne, Owen and Max Mandler and Haynes each had two hits.  

The Griffins are scheduled to host Point Park in a non conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon.
