Seton Hill kicked off their four game set with D'Youville with a doubleheader on Friday afternoon in Greensburg.
The Griffins opened the doubleheader with a 3-0 win in game one. SHU broke out the bats in game two with a 20-2 victory. SHU is now 10-3 on the season.
SHU jumped on D'Youville for two runs in the bottom of the first of game one.
Jack Whalen walked and stole second while scoring on an
Owen Henne double. Henne advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly from
Owen Mandler.
The Griffins added their only other run in the third. Henne singled and moved to third on a
Jakob Haynes single. Henne scored on a sacrifice fly from
Brady McGuire.
Jon McCullough improved to 5-0 on the season with the complete game shutout. He allowed six hits and struck out three in the win. Henne had two hits for the Griffins.
SHU scored four times in the bottom of the first of game two. Whalen tripled to lead off the inning and scored on a Henne single. Henne scored on a Haynes single to give SHU a 2-0 lead.
Colin Ahr then singled in two runs as the Griffins led 4-0.
D'Youville got a run back in the top of the fourth but the Griffins answered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Ahr singled with one out. He scored on a
Max Mandler double. Mandler scored on a
Joe Fiedor double. Whalen tripled to score Fiedor and
Owen Mandler singled to score Whalen and extend the Griffin lead to 8-1.
The Griffins put up another four spot in the fifth. Ahr scored on a wild pitch to open the scoring in the inning. Henne singled in a run and
Owen Mandler doubled in a run. Henne scored on a wild pitch as SHU led 12-1.
SHU added three more in the seventh inning.
Hayden Boebel doubled in a run and
Owen Yoder drove in two with a single.
Gage Wheaton hit a three run homer in the eighth as the Griffins extended their lead to 18-2.
Whalen, Henne,
Owen Mandler, Haynes, Fiedor and Ahr each had two hits for the Griffins.
The Griffins are scheduled to host D'Youville on Saturday afternoon as they close out the four game set.
