The Griffin baseball team closed out a four game set with D'Youville with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in Greensburg.
SHU just allowed one run in the doubleheader as they completed the four game sweep. SHU won game one by a 4-0 score and completed the doubleheader sweep with a 2-1 win in game two. SHU is now 12-3 on the season.Â
Seton Hill took the lead in the bottom of the first inning of game one.Â
Jack Whalen singled to lead off the inning and moved to third on an error. He scored on an RBI ground out from
Owen Mandler. The Griffins doubled their lead in the fifth.Â
Max Mandler doubled and moved to third on a strikeout. He scored on a sacrifice fly from
Joe Fiedor. Â
The Griffins added two more in the sixth.Â
Owen Mandler singled and later scored on a wild pitch. Later in the inning,
Brady McGuire scored on a wild pitch as SHU took a 4-0 lead. Â
The Griffins really only needed one of the runs in game one with
Ian Korn on the mound. He earned the complete game shutout. Korn allowed just three hits and struck out 11 while walking none. Â
D'Youville took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first of game two. The Griffins tied the score in the bottom half of the inning.Â
Owen Henne doubled and scored on a
Owen Mandler single. Â
SHU took the lead in the sixth.Â
Owen Mandler tripled and scored on a McGuire sacrifice fly. Â
Owen Mandler led the offense with two hits.Â
Luke Deschenes earned the win with six innings of scoreless relief. He allowed three hits and struck out three.
SHU will head to Shippensburg on Tuesday for a single nine inning contest. Â
