Baseball Gets Important Regional Win

Seton Hill made the trip to Shippensburg for a midweek nine inning nonconference matchup on Tuesday afternoon.

The Griffins picked up an important regional victory with a 4-3 win over the Raiders.  SHU is now 13-3 overall while Ship falls to 13-6 overall.

Shippensburg took advantage of some wildness from the Griffins in the bottom of the first as they used an RBI single after two one out walks to take a 1-0 lead over the Griffins.  SHU tied the score at one in the second inning.  Jakob Haynes singled to lead off the inning.  Haynes was out at second as Brady McGuire reached on a fielders choice.  Mark Black singled and Max Mandler walked to load the bases. After s strikeout, Joe Fiedor drew the bases loaded walk to tie the score at one.  

SHU took the lead in the third.  After two outs, Haynes walked and McGuire was hit by a pitch.  Black walked to load the bases and Haynes and McGuire scored on a double from Max Mandler that put the Griffins in front 3-1.  Ship retied the score at three in the bottom of the third with a homer and a two out RBI double.  

The Griffins retook the lead in the fourth.  Colin Ahr singled to lead off the inning and stole second.  He scored on a Fiedor RBI single.  

The Raiders got runners on first and third with one out in the ninth but Christian Zilli got two strikeouts to end the contest.  

SHU will open PSAC West play this weekend with a four game set with IUP.
