Seton Hill flipped its home series to a neutral site series in Cincinnati, OH at Xavier University against Findlay on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins played long ball in game one as they defeated the Oilers 10-3. The Olilers split the doubleheader with a 5-4 win in game two. SHU is now 7-3 on the season.
The Griffins jumped on the Oilers in the bottom of the first inning.
Owen Henne singled with one out and scored on a two run bomb to left center from
Jakob Haynes.
Jack Whalen singled and while running on the pitch scored from first on a single to left center from
Colin Ahr as SHU took a 3-0 lead.
SHU increased their lead in the second.
Max Mandler homered to left field in his first at bat of the season to lead off the inning.
Joe Fiedor singled with one out and scored on a line drive homer to left field that increased the Griffins lead to 6-0.
Seton Hill added two more in the third. Haynes hit his second homer of the game to make it 7-0 to lead off the third. Whalen then singled and scored on an Ahr double as SHU built an 8-0 lead. SHU added a ninth run on a Whalen sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. The lead reached double figures on a Henne RBI single in the fifth.
Findlay got two runs back in the top of the sixth on a two run shot to left field.
Henne was 3-3 with 3 RBI and a homer. Haynes hit a pair of homers and drove in three. Whalen and Ahr each added two hits.
Jon McCullough improved to 4-0 on the season. He went 5.2 innings, allowed two runs on five hits and struck out eight.
Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard until the Griffins did in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Brady McGuire and Henne drew walks to lead off the inning. Henne and Haynes then scored on an infield single from Whalen to give the Griffins a 2-0 lead.
The Oilers answered with three runs in the top of the fifth on a three run shot to take a 3-2 lead over the Griffins.
SHU tied the game at three on doubles from Haynes and Ahr in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Griffins retook the lead in the seventh. McGuire doubled with two outs and scored on a two out RBI double from Henne.
Findlay retook the lead in the top of the eighth with a pair of runs as they led 5-4.
McGuire had two hits to lead SHU. Whalen drove in a pair.
Evan Rossi threw 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.
The three game set will conclude on Sunday afternoon with a single nine inning contest.
