Seton Hill continued non conference action with a doubleheader against Fairmont State in Greensburg, PA on Tuesday afternoon.
Fairmont State won game one by the score of 6-2. They completed the sweep with an 11-2 win in game two. SHU falls to 6-4 overall while Fairmont improves to 4-4.
Fairmont jumped on the Griffins for two runs in the top of the first inning. They used an error and three walks to score the runs.
The Falcons added a run in the third with a two out RBI double. SHU got on the scoreboard in the fifth.
Kassidy Wittig and
Shelby Telegdy reached on errors and Wittig scored on a
Brooklyn Fukushima two out RBI single to make it 3-1.
Juliette Vybiral followed with an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2.
Fairmont scored those runs right back in the top of the sixth to lead 5-2.
Telegdy led the offense with two hits.
Brooke Cleland added a double.
The Griffins took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two. Wittig and
Grace Paredes drew walks to start the inning. After a pop out,
Anna Kalkowski singled to score Wittig. Paredes scored on a sacrifice fly from
Brooklyn Fukushima.
Fairmont State scored five times in the top of the fifth inning to take a 5-2 lead over the Griffins. The Falcons then added six runs in the sixth as they built their lead to 11-2.
Abby Dejidas had three hits to lead SHU. Kalkowski added two hits.
The Griffins are scheduled to travel to Bloomsburg on Saturday afternoon.
