Seton Hill continued non conference play on Friday afternoon as they hosted Frostburg State at the SHU Softball Complex.
The Griffins scored 15 runs in a 15-10 come from behind win in game one then built an early lead and held on for a 6-4 win in game two. SHU is now 8-4 on the season while Frostburg drops to 2-10. Â
Frostburg scored three times in their first two at bats to take a 3-0 lead over the Griffins. The Griffins took the lead in the bottom of the second.Â
Grace Paredes drove in two with a double and
Shelby Telegdy cleared the bases with a three RBI double. Â
The Bobcats answered right back with six runs in their half of the third to take a 9-5 lead.Â
Juliette Vybiral scored on a wild pitch and
Bre Athey and
Abby Smearman executed a double steal as the Griffins cut the lead to 9-7 in the third. Â
The Griffins took the lead for good in the fifth. Smearman hit a two run homer to tie the score at nine.Â
Abby Dejidas put the Griffins in front with an RBI single.Â
Anna Kalkowski added two more runs with a single to center.Â
Brooklyn Fukushima made it 13-9 with an RBI double. Â
Frostburg got one run back with a solo homer in the top of the sixth. SHU added two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth to close out the scoring.Â
Kalkowski and Fukushima each had two hits in the win. Telegdy drove in five.Â
Lacey Lynn earned the win with four innings of relief. Â
The Griffins took an early lead in game two.Â
Kassidy Wittig walked. She moved to third when Dejidas reached on an error. Paredes followed with a three run shot to center field as SHU took a 3-0 lead. SHU added a run in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs,
Bre Athey tripled and scored on a Wittig single.Â
Caroline Cherekos drove in two in the fifth with a two out, two run double as the Griffins built a 6-0 lead. Â
Paredes and Athey each had two hits.Â
Briahna McCombs earned the win. She worked six innings and struck out five. Lynn earned the save with a scoreless seventh. Â
SHU will travel to Belmont Abbey next Tuesday afternoon. Â
