Softball Swept at the Rock

Seton Hill continued PSAC West action with a doubleheader against the Rock in Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon.  

The Rock defeated the Griffins by a 3-2 score in game one of the doubleheader.  Slippery Rock completed the sweep of the Griffins with an 8-3 win in game two.  

Slippery Rock scored three runs on four hits as they took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of game one.  

The Griffins scored their runs in the seventh.  Brooke Cleland drew a leadoff walk.  After two strikeouts Shelby Telegdy singled to put two runners on.  Grace Paredes singled to load the bases.  Anna Kalkowski singled to score two runs but the game tying run was thrown out at third base to end the game.  

Telegdy struck out seven in the loss.  

SHU scored three times in the first inning of game two.  Kassidy Wittig drew a walk to start the game.  Kayla Vonstein singled to put two runners on.  Grace Paredes reached on an error with Wittig scoring to give SHU a 1-0 lead.  Lacey Lynn doubled to score two more and extend the lead to 3-0.  

The Rock scored twice in the second inning to trim the lead to 3-2.  Slippery Rock tied the game in the third and added four more in the fourth as they took a 7-3 lead.  The Rock added another run in the fifth as they increased their lead to 8-3.  

Paredes led the offense with three hits.  Lynn added a pair of hits.  

The Griffins are scheduled to host Pitt Johnstown in a PSAC West doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon.
