Softball Swept at IUP

Seton Hill continued PSAC West action with a doubleheader against IUP in Indiana, PA on Tuesday afternoon.  

IUP took game one by the score of 8-3 and completed the sweep of the Griffins with a 17-2 win in game two.  SHU is now 14-8 overall and 3-3 in the PSAC West.  

The Griffins took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.  Shelby Telegdy doubled with one out and scored on a Grace Paredes two run homer.  IUP took advantage of three walks in the bottom of the first inning as they cut the lead to 2-1.  IUP scored three times in the bottom of the second as they took a 4-2 lead.  

SHU cut the lead in half in the third.  Paredes drew a leadoff walk.  Anna Kalkowski singled to put two runners on.  Brooklyn Fukushima drove in a run with a single as SHU trailed 4-3.  

The Crimson Hawks scored one in the fifth and three in the sixth as they took an 8-3 lead.  

Kalkowski led the Griffins with a pair of hits.  

In game two, IUP scored a pair of runs in the second and added six in the third as they built an 8-0 lead..    

The Griffins got two runs back in the fourth.  Paredes doubled to lead off the inning.  Fukushima was hit by a pitch and both scored on a Bre Athey double. 

The Crimson Hawks added nine runs in the fourth inning as they pushed their lead to 17-2.  

Athey had two of the four hits for the Griffins.   

The Griffins are scheduled to travel to Slippery Rock in a PSAC West doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
