Seton Hill took a break from PSAC West play with a single nine inning contest with West Liberty on Tuesday afternoon in Greensburg, PA.
The Griffins scored five times in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed again in a 10-6 victory over the Hilltoppers. SHU has now won 11 in a row and is 18-3 on the season.
West Liberty took a 1-0 lead over the Griffins in the first inning. SHU responded with five runs in their half of the first.
Jack Whalen singled and scored on an
Owen Henne sacrifice fly.
Owen Mandler singled and scored when
Brady McGuire homered to left field as SHU took a 3-1 lead.
Max Mandler singled and scored when
Colin Ahr homered to left center as the Griffins took a 5-1 lead.
West Liberty scored twice in the fourth to cut the SHU lead to 5-3. The Griffins got one of the runs nack in the bottom of the fourth with a
Jakob Haynes double and McGuire RBI single.
The Hilltoppers added two more in the fifth as they trimmed the lead to 6-5. SHU scored four times in the sixth inning to take a 10-5 lead. Whalen and Henne singled and
Owen Mandler drew a walk to load the bases. Haynes was hit by a pitch to force in a run. Ahr singled in two runs and
Nate Dorinsky added an RBI as SHU took a five run lead.
Whalen and McGuire each had three hits for the Griffins. Haynes,
Max Mandler, Ahr and Dorinsky each had two hits.
Brodie Kuzior threw two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.
The Griffins will host Lock Haven in a PSAC West matchup on Friday afternoon.
