Seton Hill continued PSAC West play with a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon in Greensburg, PA.
The Griffins pounded out 21 hits in a 13-2 game one win. SHU completed the four game sweep with a 4-1 win in game two. SHU is now 17-3 overall and 4-0 in the PSAC while IUP drops to 3-17 overall and 0-4 in the PSAC.
SHU did not waste any time getting on the scoreboard in game one.
Jack Whalen singled to lead off the game and stole second. He moved to third on a foul out and then scored on a single from
Owen Mandler. Mandler stole second and scored on a two out RBI single from
Max Mandler as SHU took a 2-0 lead.
The Griffins added on in the second inning.
Mark Black singled to lead off the inning and stole second. He scored on a two out single from Whalen. Henne singled to put two runners on and
Owen Mandler singled in Whalen as the Griffins extended the lead to 4-0.
Seton Hill continued to add on in each at bat. In the third, Black singled and scored on a
Joe Fiedor single as the Griffins led 5-0. In the fourth, Henne and Mandler each singled to put two runners on. Henne scored on a
Max Mandler sacrifice fly.
Brady McGuire made it 7-0 with an RBI double off the left center field wall.
Colin Ahr knocked in two more runs with a double to the right center field gap. The Griffins added another run on an error as they extended the lead to 10-0.
IUP got on the scoreboard in the fifth with a pair of runs. SHU answered those right back in the bottom of the fifth with a pair of runs.
Owen Mandler was 4-5 to lead SHU. Whalen, Henne and McGuire each had three hits.
Max Mandler , Black and Fiedor each added two hits. Owen and
Max Mandler each drove in two runs. McGuire, Fiedor and Ahr each added two RBIs.
Ian Korn earned his fifth win with six innings of work.
SHU got on the board in the fourth inning of game two.
Max Mandler reached on an error to lead off the inning. McGuire singled to put two runners on. The runners moved up on a Black sacrifice bunt. Mandler scored on a
Colin Ahr ground out.
IUP tied the score at one with a solo homer in the fifth. The Griffins retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning. Whalen tripled to lead off the inning and scored on a passed ball.
The Griffins added two insurance runs in the sixth. McGuire drew a one out walk and scored ona two run shot from Ahr.
Zach Herb threw 1.1 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.
Evan Rossi picked up the save with 1.1 scoreless innings of relief.
The Griffins will host West Liberty in a non conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon.
