Griffins Pull Away From Clarion in Second Half

Seton Hill made the trip to Clarion, PA on Saturday afternoon as they continued PSAC West play with a road matchup with the Golden Eagles. 

The Griffins hit nine three pointers in the first half to build a lead and defeated Clarion by the score of 77-64 in PSAC West play.  SHU is now 14-10 overall and 7-9 in PSAC play.   

Clarion opened the game scoring the first eight points of the contest.  Back to back threes from Gage Lattimore and a basket from Brian Belade tied the score at 13 with 12:35 to play.  A three from Ryan Meis and two Gabe Gillespie free throws gave SHU a 21-19 lead with 9:22 to play in the half.

Back to back threes from Lattimore gave SHU a 27-21 lead with 6:10 to play.  Clarion answered with five straight before another Lattimore three pointer gave SHU a 30-26 lead with 3:33 to play.  James Rice added a three pointer as SHU led 35-30 with 2:26 to play.  SHU led Clarion 35-33 at the halftime break.

The Griffins hit 12 field goals in the first half, nine of them were from three point land.  

Seton Hill scored the first eight points of the second half behind two baskets from Gillespie and four points from Kedrick Curtis as the Griffins led 43-33 with 17:04 to play.  A three point play from Curtis and a jumper from Lattimore pushed the Griffin lead to 52-37 with 11:11 to play.  

Back to back threes from Camden Brewer and Belade extended the Griffins lead to 58-42 with 7:31 to play.  Two free throws from Curtis and a Gillespie dunk gave SHU a 66-52 lead with 4:10 to play.  

Lattimore led the Griffins with 19 points.  Curtis and Gillespie added 16 points.  Meis just missed double figures with nine points.  

The Griffins will return home and host IUP on February 19th after a ten days off from action.
