Men's Basketball Falls at Home to IUP

Seton Hill returned to action after a week and a half off with a home PSAC West contest with Indiana (PA) on Wednesday evening in Greensburg.  

The Crimson Hawks took a five point halftime lead and defeated the Griffins by the score of 75-71.  SHU falls to 14-11 overall and 7-10 in the PSAC while IUP improves to 12-13 overall and 7-9 in the PSAC.

Seton Hill took an early 5-0 lead on a three pointer from Kedrick Curtis and a basket from Gabe Gillespie.  IUP answered with five straight before Gillespie made another layup and Ryan Meis hit a three to give SHU a 10-5 lead with 15:47 to play in the half.  Over the next five minutes, there were four ties, the last at 19 with 10:06 to play.  

Over the next four minutes, tHe Griffins went on a 10-2 run as they took a 29-21 lead with 6:21 to play in the half.  Gage Lattimore and James Rice each hit threes in the run.  A Meis three extended the Griffins lead to 32-26 with 4:54 to play.  IUP ended the half on a 13-2 run as they took a 39-34 halftime lead. 

Less than three minutes into the second half, the Crimson Hawks built their lead to eleven points.  Eight straight points from Curtis trimmed the lead to 52-49 with 14:19 to play.  The Griffins used another 8-0 run to take a 61-59 lead with 7:11 left.  Meis hit back to back three pointers to end the run.  

A basket from Meis and two Curtis free throws cut the IUP lead to 67-66 with 2:21 left.  IUP hit six free throws as the Griffins failed to score with IUP leading 72-66 with 16 seconds to play.

Curtis led the Griffins with 25 points.  Meis added 19 points.  Gillespie also reached double figures with 10 points.  

SHU will travel to Edinboro on Saturday afternoon for another PSAC West contest.
